HEMATITE

POWER, MEANINGS AND HEALING PROPERTIES

Hematite, from its Earth elemental connection, is known as a stone of Stability. It anchors and grounds with the help of its energy from the element of earth. In many traditions the element of Earth is seen as an element that governs money and the practical thinking skills that suit the task managing money. This makes Hematite great for decision making in practical arenas of life, such as investing, spending, and accumulating wealth. Like Amethyst, Hermatite is one of the best Earth-oriented stones that you can get to strengthen your inner core and discharge negativity.

Hematite is also a good fit for thinkers and creative people. One needs to understand that being a logical thinker does not have an adverse or inverted relationship with a person’s creativity. The most famous creative thinkers, from artists like Andy Warhol, Michaelangelo, Pablo Picasso, Vincent van Gogh, to even scientists like Albert Einstein, have applied logic to ideas that many people would regard as “crazy” or “out of this world.” In short, it is more like having an open mind out of the box, to build fulfilling knowledge from where there once was none.

Hematite can especially benefit women who feel they lack courage, self confidence, will power and self-esteem.

HEMATITE AS A SEMI PRECIOUS STONE

Hematite is one of the most abundant minerals on earth. It is an iron oxide with a chemical composition of Fe2O3, more commonly known as iron (III) oxide. It is a common rock-forming mineral found in sedimentary, metamorphic, and igneous rocks at locations throughout the world. The colour of most red and brown rock, such as sandstone, is caused by small amounts of Hematite during its formation. It is also be responsible for the red colour of many minerals. Pure Hematite, when observed as a semi-precious stone, has a composition of about 70% iron and 30% oxygen by weight. Like most natural materials, it is rarely found with that pure of a composition. Hematite stones are opaque, not exactly the strongest of stones, with a hardness of 5-6 in the Mohs hardness scale.

Hematite, when first found naturally, is usually rough and red. It can be polished and once polished, it reveals a beautiful, mirror-like sheen, which makes it an attractive choice for semi-precious jewellery.
