Black Lava rock is perhaps the oldest rock in the world. It comes from the molten core of our Mother Earth in her youth, forged through billions of years in intense heat and pressure that gives the rock its unique form. All too fittingly, such an ancient stone as Black Lava rock is known as the stone of rebirth, perseverance and courage. It has a natural ancient energy that guides us through transformation and embracing change with time, just as it has from molten rock to a tough mineral. It encourages progressive and liberating thoughts to a person’s mind by drawing energy from Mother Earth. Black Lava has a calming effect for dispersing anger, and will come in quite useful for those with a quicker temper, drawing on the experience as Mother Earth went from hot to cool. Another great way to take advantage of Black Lava’s unique texture and porous structure, is to apply a few drops of your favourite essential oil on the Lava stones so that it can absorb and diffuse the aroma naturally, giving a stronger and more direct positive effect.

Black Lava is a Semi-Precious Gemstone
Magma is a composed of molten rock that is stored in the crust of the earth. Magma is generated by geothermal energy and discharges to Earth’s surface as lava during an eruption. Temperature of the lava discharged from a volcano is usually between 700 to 1,200 °C (1,292 to 2,192 °F). Once the lava is cool, it exhibits a beautiful matt black surface. The common minerals found in the Lava rock are pyroxine, olivine, amphibole, plagioclase feldspar, hornblende, biotite mica, magnetite and quartz. Black Lava is not thought of as one of the finer gemstones available, but one should not be so quick to judge it for its lack of a shine. Black lava in its plain appearance, conveys depth, maturity and a sense of stability.
